Chapter 21: I Can’t Do This….
Stacy stood in the lobby of the prison, waiting to be processed in. She was both nervous and excited about seeing Pastor G. She hadn’t seen him in over four months, and the last time they had talked was three weeks ago, which Stacy thought was strange. Pastor G would normally call two to four times a week to check on her and Jazz. This was so unlike him and that was why she had made it her business to check on her man in person.
“Next!” the officer called out. Stacy walked up and placed her shoes and coin bag into the container. When she was called, she walked through the metal detector and, shortly after, she was escorted through the metal gates and walked over to the visiting yard.
Pastor G didn’t want her to see him like this. He wasn’t too happy about her showing up without getting the o.k. from him first, but damn she looks good, Pastor G thought as he watched Stacy bend over at the soda machine. She wore a pair of copper stretch pants, a black sweater that flared at the end of her arms, and a pair of black boots. His hair was pulled up into a simple ponytail, and even from the side, he could see her lips shining. Stacy felt someone looking at her as she was getting her soda and when she looked up, her mouth flew open. She put her hand over her mouth. What in the hell happened to him? she thought, looking at Pastor G’s arm in a sling and a bandage on his forehead. It looked as if he was in pain when he walked. Stacy slowly walked his way. When she got up on him, she noticed that he had stitches above his right eye and his lip, and his finger was broken.
“What happened to you?” she asked, her eyes watering as she spoke.
Pastor G pointed to the table for them to sit down.
“What happened?” she asked again once they were seated.
Pastor G moved his hand as if he was writing. That’s when Stacy figured he couldn’t talk.
“What’s the matter with your mouth?”
Pastor G mumbled a few words and Stacy knew that she needed to get a pen and some paper.
